GENERAL INFORMATION
Kennels
Animal Concern Cumbria West Branch maintains a kennelling facility at Northside, Workington, near to the Dunmail Park shopping centre. This facility is for dogs only; all other animals and some dogs are in foster homes around the Workington area.
Volunteering :
We always welcome dedicated people who share our enthusiasm for the welfare of animals. If you would like to join our team of volunteers, you could help in one or more of the following ways:
Kennel working - feeding, walking and socialising of dogs; cleaning and maintaining the environment.
Fostering - short and long-term fostering of dogs, cats and small animals.
Home checking - visiting the homes of potential owners to check the care and environment to be provided.
Fund-raising - helping to devise and organise fund-raising schemes and events.
Adoption Policy :
If you want to adopt an animal please note:
Adopting an animal is a 10+ year commitment in most cases. If you are committed
to a life of responsible animal ownership, we would be more than happy to hear
from you.
*Homes are carefully selected to ensure that an animal is suitably matched. We do not just 'give' an animal
to anyone who 'asks'.
*All applicants must be aged 18+ and be available for an interview with one of our re-homing officers.
*All prospective homes will be required to submit references or have their home checked prior to adoption.
*West Cumbrian Branch are able to rehome dogs outside the county (within the UK), but with the provision that the animal must be returned to Workington in the case of circumstances changing.
Whilst every care is taken to ensure compatibility, a full medical and social history is often not available. Animal Concern cannot take any responsibility for any damage or injury caused by an animal, once adopted.
Release :
To release an animal into the care of Animal Concern Cumbria please contact us using the numbers on the left of the screen.
If we do not have the space available, you may be given another contact to ring or asked to join a waiting list.
For emergencies, we would urge you to contact the local Environmental Officer (a web link to find your nearest Officer can be found on our Links page ) or the RSPCA.
Animal Concern Cumbria will suggest a donation whenever an animal is adopted or released. This will help us to continue our vital work in the future.
We are usually unable to collect or deliver animals.
